The going is unconfirmed, so flexibility on that front is key, but the form angles here are clear enough. Yarmouth suits trainers who target the track specifically, and the jockey stats throw up one standout name worth tracking across the card. Let’s get into it.

5:00 — Iglu Apprentice Handicap Stakes (5f, 4 runners)

Four runners, five furlongs, and a field where the ratings tell an interesting story. Adalida is the market favourite at 6/4, but the angle here points elsewhere.

Victor Cee at 5/1 with Boyle Sports catches the eye on the figures. Our rating of 76 sits well clear of his official mark of 64, making him second in this field on adjusted numbers. That gulf between public handicap mark and private rating is exactly the kind of discrepancy you want to find. Connor Planas takes the ride, and Planas at Yarmouth is worth following, boasting an 18% win rate and a strong A/E of 1.20 at the track. The 29-day break is the only query, but Phil McEntee’s horses aren’t always showing up with huge yards behind them and a fresh return can sharpen a horse like this.

Ambishio is the joint-favourite and rates highest in the field, but 140lbs is a serious burden over five furlongs in an apprentice contest, and his recent form since winning has been patchy at best. The market has priced him accordingly at 15/8. Adalida showed up well last time with a runner-up finish and 6/4 is a fair price, but third on our ratings in a four-runner field leaves little room for error at that price.

6:10 — Otex EBF Maiden Stakes (5f, 6 runners)

Two-year-old maiden over five furlongs, and the market has landed on War Gaming at evens. The Oisin Murphy booking is the headline, and Murphy’s 18% at Yarmouth gives him credibility here. The horse ran second on debut, which is a solid foundation for a colt trained by George Scott.

The counter-argument is Horndean at 4/1 with Boyle Sports. Pat Cosgrave takes the ride on Adam Kirby’s runner, who placed third on debut. Kirby’s yard has been quiet over the past two weeks (0/11), which is a flag, but this is a straightforward enough contest for a horse who showed ability first time out.

Henley On Thames is the each-way play at the price. Kevin Philippart De Foy is one of Yarmouth’s most reliable trainers, sitting at 19% wins and an A/E of 1.15 at the course. That matters. De Foy targets tracks where he knows the angles, and Yarmouth is clearly one of them. David Egan rides, and the horse has been placed in both starts (sixth, then second). The horse who stands out for value is Gorgeous Mr George at 11/4 across the board. Taryn Langley keeps the ride, and that matters enormously here. Langley’s Yarmouth record is exceptional: 27% win rate, and an A/E of 1.85, which is the highest on the entire track stats list. That kind of overperformance relative to starting prices suggests she consistently finds winners at bigger prices than the market expects. Gorgeous Mr George has won back-to-back and is rated 82 by us, third in the field on paper but with clear momentum behind him. The quick return after 19 days is a positive, and stall one over seven furlongs at Yarmouth suits horses who travel prominently.

Dion Baker arrives with five wins from his last six starts, which looks extraordinary on paper. But fifth of six on our ratings here suggests those wins have come in softer company, and jumping up in grade against this field is a step too far at 7/2.

Sea Suite has solid form figures and Cieren Fallon is always a threat, but a below-par seventh last time out and 27 days off means the trust level isn’t quite there at 7/2.
