Yarmouth Tips: Tuesday 28 July 2026

Glorious Goodwood takes the glamour today, but Yarmouth’s Tuesday card offers three competitive races on good to firm ground, and there are genuine angles to play. The flat, fast surface suits horses with a clean action, and the trainer stats here reward the bigger yards. Charlie Appleby leads all comers at 30% at this track, John and Thady Gosden run him close at 25%, and the Gosden team has been firing in the last fortnight with eight winners from 15 runners. That context shapes the card.

Three runners, and on paper the 1/4 favourite Educator looks the standout. Third last time out, second two starts back, and Billy Loughnane takes the ride. The trip and going are ticked off, and the placed form is consistent enough. Back it if you must at skinny odds, but there is no value in 1/4.

The one to look at more carefully is Expressionless at 3/1 with Boyle Sports and Betfred. Dylan Cunha’s yard has been struggling badly, just one winner from 24 runners in the last fortnight, and that cannot be ignored. But Expressionless won six starts back, ran third four starts back, and the comment data puts him as the pick on figures in this field. Today’s trip and going are already covered, and with a 15-day freshen-up behind him, he arrives in decent enough nick. The market may be right to make Educator favourite, but at 3/1 against a 1/4 shot in a three-runner race, Expressionless represents the only viable betting proposition on the card here.

Selection: Expressionless, 3/1 (Boyle Sports/Betfred)

Six two-year-old colts, no published RPRs to lean on, so trainer form and jockey course stats do a lot of the heavy lifting. The favourite Mithaaly (4/6) showed a runner-up on debut for George Boughey, a trainer running at 18% at this course. That is respectable, and Loughnane riding gives the yard a boost, but 4/6 asks you to take very little. Boughey’s A/E of 0.88 at Yarmouth means punters have slightly overpaid for his runners here historically.

The more interesting ticket is Noble Prince at 4/1 with Boyle Sports and Betfred. Charlie Appleby sits at 30% at Yarmouth, the best strike rate of any trainer at this track. Connor Planas takes the ride, and Planas himself runs at 18% at this course with a positive A/E of 1.17, meaning backing his mounts at Yarmouth has shown a profit. Appleby’s yard has six winners from 16 runners in the last 14 days, a yard firing in peak summer form. An Appleby debutant at this trip on good to firm is always worth serious attention, and 4/1 with the each-way terms on a six-runner field is marginal, but the win case is strong.

Note To Self at 4/1 for Gosden also catches the eye given the yard’s recent 8/15 form, though the 572 form line does not inspire confidence in this company.

Selection: Noble Prince, 4/1 (Boyle Sports/Betfred)

Seven runners, a proper handicap, and the form book throws up a clear standout. Love You More Each-Way at 9/4 with Boyle Sports and Betfred ticks every box. Winner last time out, race-fit on a quick 15-day turnaround, today’s trip and going already covered, and Joseph Parr’s small yard is running at 1/6 in the last fortnight, not spectacular but proof the horses are coming out in form. Billy Loughnane takes the ride, one of the most in-form jockeys on the flat right now.

The danger is Luminous Warrior at 15/8, who was runner-up last time and heads the figures, but the Dylan Cunha yard’s record of just one winner from 24 runners in two weeks is a red flag you cannot dismiss. Backing horses from a stable that cold, even at a short price, is a risky proposition.

At 9/4 with two places on offer in a seven-runner handicap, Love You More offers solid each-way value. The win chance looks genuine, and the placed insurance at 1/4 odds is worth having.

Selection: Love You More, 9/4 (Boyle Sports/Betfred) โ€” Each-Way

Odds: 4/1 โ€” Boyle Sports (others: 4/1 Betfred, 7/2 LiveScore Bet)

Charlie Appleby’s 30% strike rate at Yarmouth is the best of any trainer at this track, and his yard has six winners from 16 runners in the last fortnight. Connor Planas brings a profitable course record of his own with an A/E of 1.17 here. The 4/6 favourite Mithaaly comes from a trainer whose Yarmouth A/E sits below one, meaning the market slightly overrates Boughey’s runners at this track. Noble Prince at 4/1 with Appleby in full-season form and the right jockey in the saddle is the value play of the day.
