Yarmouth, Wednesday 8 July 2026: Tips and Analysis
A six-race card at Great Yarmouth on a sunny afternoon, with the ground riding Good To Firm throughout. Yarmouth is a flat, galloping track that suits horses who travel well through their races rather than relying on a burst of speed, and the firm summer ground puts a premium on horses with proven form on quick surfaces. William Haggas and Roger Varian are the two powerhouse yards at this track, both sitting around 21% strike rates here, and both have runners across the card today.
2:15 โ Winning Experience With Moulton Racing Fillies’ Handicap (7f, Good To Firm)
Selection: Lovers Leap at 2/1 (BoyleSports, Betfred) or 15/8 (LiveScore Bet)
The figures point squarely at Lovers Leap. She tops the speed ratings in this field at 77, has a win and a placed effort in her last five starts, and has never finished worse than sixth in that time. Today’s seven furlongs and Good To Firm ground are both proven. The only question is a 46-day absence, but Jane Chapple-Hyam’s yard has a runner on the card in the next race too, suggesting the horses are ready. At 2/1 in a field of eight, she is the clear market leader for good reason.
The each-way case for the race belongs to Fantasy Obsessor Each-Way at 6/1 (BoyleSports, Betfred). She has been placed three times in her last six starts, rates second of eight on our figures at 73, and first-time cheekpieces are added today. The stable is cold, but the horse’s own profile screams place at minimum. At 6/1 with three places paid at 1/5 odds, this is proper each-way value.
3:15 โ ATI Tank Hire Memorial Fillies’ Novice Stakes (1m, Good To Firm)
Selection: Dream Vega at 7/2 (BoyleSports, LiveScore Bet) or 4/1 (Betfred)
Starlight Lass is the favourite and represents John and Thady Gosden with Robert Havlin aboard, and the Gosden yard is firing at 25% at this course. But at 8/11, you are laying a lot on a horse whose form reads 2-1 in a four-runner field. Starlight Lass is capable, no question, but the price is short enough that any traffic or interference and you are losing a big chunk of your stake for small return.
Dream Vega at 7/2 to 4/1 is the smarter play. Ed Walker runs at 19% at Yarmouth with an A/E of 1.04, meaning his runners outperform their market expectations at this track. That 1.04 figure is the best of the big Newmarket yards on this card. Form of 4-2 reads second most recently, and she handles Good To Firm ground. Kieran Shoemark takes the ride. Four-runner fields pay two places, so at 7/2 win or each-way both make sense, but this is a win play. Raneem at 15/8 is the danger if Roger Varian’s filly improves sharply on her debut win.
3:45 โ Great Yarmouth Racecourse Maiden Stakes (1m2f, Good To Firm)
Selection: Waterford Castle at 11/10 (BoyleSports, Betfred) or Evens (LiveScore Bet)
This is a six-runner maiden over a mile and two furlongs, and Waterford Castle is the short-priced favourite for a reason. Form of -22227 reads like a horse that has been knocking on the door relentlessly without quite getting his head in front, but the experience advantage over most of these rivals is significant. He handles Good To Firm ground and the step up to this trip looks sensible given that placed form. Billy Loughnane takes the ride for George Boughey, who is 17% at this course.
The horse to watch if you want to oppose the market is Seacole Each-Way at 10/1 (BoyleSports, Betfred) or 9/1 (LiveScore Bet). Ralph Beckett has been in decent form over the past fortnight at 8/58 and Seacole ran a debut second. In a six-runner field only two places are paid, so the each-way angle is marginal, but at 10/1 the risk-reward is attractive if you think Waterford Castle can be beaten. Kokbastau for Roger Varian at 15/8 is the other market mover to keep onside, but the 2yo stepping up to face older horses on seasonal debut makes the price hard to take.
Today’s NAP
Odds: 15/8 โ LiveScore Bet (others: 2/1 BoyleSports, 2/1 Betfred)
Lovers Leap tops the speed figures in this field at 77, is proven on Good To Firm ground over seven furlongs, and has placed or won in three of her last five starts. Billy Loughnane is in the plate for an in-form Jane Chapple-Hyam yard that also saddles a runner at 3:15. The 46-day break is the only note of caution, but this filly’s profile demands respect at a price that still carries genuine win value.
