York, Friday 12 June 2026: Full Card Tips
A gorgeous sunny afternoon at York and seven races to get stuck into. Good ground at the Knavesmire suits sharp, athletic types and the card has real depth from the opening apprentice handicap through to the evening closer. William Haggas runs a live contender in the opener and the big-field handicaps later in the card offer some genuine each-way angles at tasty prices. Here is the full breakdown.
1:50 โ Andy Thornton Hospitality Furniture Apprentice Handicap (7f, 21 runners)
Selection: Great Dream Each-Way at 17/2 (Betfred / LiveScore Bet)
Twenty-one runners in an apprentice handicap at York means the draw and trainer form are everything, and both point in one direction here. William Haggas has been busy and productive recently (12 winners from 52 runners in the past fortnight) and his strike rate at York specifically sits at a healthy 18%. Harry Burns rides and his A/E of 2.36 at this track is exceptional, suggesting he punches well above his weight at the Knavesmire. The form line of 4193-6 shows a horse that won last summer and placed twice, so the ability is there. He comes down the weights slightly for a run where he was probably finding conditions against him. Good ground today suits, and five places at 1/5 make this a rock-solid each-way play at the top of the market.
Brian Ellison’s yard has sent out just one winner from 21 runners lately, which makes Lir Speciale (9/1) harder to trust despite Shay Farmer’s strong course record.
2:25 โ Rous Selling Stakes (6f, 2yo, 15 runners)
Selection: Undercover Affair at 9/2 (Boyle Sports / Betfred)
Sellers can be a lottery but the form of Undercover Affair reads well for a race like this. Four consecutive placed efforts culminating in a win (44221) shows a horse building nicely through its races and gaining confidence. Pat Cosgrave is an experienced hand in a field of two-year-olds, and the six furlongs on good ground at York is well within his range. David Evans’ yard has sent out one winner from 18 runners recently so it is not flying, but the horse’s own form does the talking here.
Everatease is a short price at 9/4 and clearly respected, but the form (6641) is modest for a horse being asked to take short odds in a sellers. Furturra (7/1) is consistent but six attempts for one win tells its own story. Undercover Affair looks the cleaner form angle at the better price.
3:00 โ British EBF Fillies’ Handicap (6f, 12 runners)
Selection: Beaujolais Nouveau at 13/2 (Boyle Sports / Betfred)
This 12-runner fillies’ handicap over six furlongs is one of the most competitive races on the card, but Beaujolais Nouveau catches the eye at the current price. The form line 00-051 shows a horse that struggled earlier in her career but has improved sharply, finishing fifth and then winning on her most recent two starts. She is on a rising mark but yards like Ben Haslam’s tend to get their horses fit and ready when they find their feet, and she arrives here in form. Three places at 1/4 odds make her a solid each-way proposition in a competitive 12-runner heat.
Dandana (5/1) is the market leader but the Crisford yard has gone 0 from 18 in the past fortnight, which is a serious cold-spell flag. At 5/1 that is not enough discount for the yard form. Shallow (8/1 to 17/2) is another to respect with consistent recent efforts and De Sousa in the saddle, but Beaujolais Nouveau at 13/2 represents the better value with the form trajectory behind her.
3:35 โ Juddmonte EBF Fillies’ Restricted Novice (5f, 10 runners)
Selection: Call Me Tomorrow at 10/3 (Boyle Sports / Betfred)
Richard Hannon has been in good nick (9 winners from 44 runners recently) and Call Me Tomorrow makes plenty of appeal stepping back to five furlongs in a novice. The form of 252 shows she has placed on two occasions without winning, and she looks overdue a breakthrough. Alec Voikhansky takes the ride and the five-furlong trip on good ground at York should suit a filly bred for speed. Priced at 10/3 she is not the favourite, with Big Negotiator (evens) dominating the market.
Big Negotiator (evens) has shaped promisingly in two runs (form 32) but evens is a short price for a horse that has not won. The each-way case here is borderline given the 10-runner field and three-place payout, but Call Me Tomorrow at 10/3 each-way covers you well if the favourite struggles. The Hannon yard’s current form tips the balance.
4:10 โ Sky Bet The World’s Gone Football Handicap (1m2f, 16 runners)
Selection: Rathgar Each-Way at 7/1 (Boyle Sports / Betfred / LiveScore Bet)
This is the richest race on the card at ยฃ36,078 and the most compelling each-way betting opportunity. Rathgar runs for Jack Channon whose yard has fired in recently (1 from 5 is a small but sharp sample), and crucially the form reads 00-411, meaning this horse has won twice in its last four outings. A horse that goes 0-0 then finds its form and rattles off back-to-back wins is exactly the type you want to get behind in a big-field handicap. James Doyle takes the ride, always a positive in a big-field event where positional sense matters. Five places at 1/5 odds give you superb each-way coverage at a generous price.
Antipodes (10/3) is the market jolter and Roger Varian’s form 821-1 is hard to ignore, but winning at 10/3 in a 16-runner handicap is a tough ask. Love Beach (12/1) for Fanshawe is another each-way outsider to note. Rathgar at 7/1 is the sweet spot of price and form.
4:45 โ Dawson Williamson Architects Handicap (5f, 15 runners)
Selection: Forest Phoenix Each-Way at 6/1 (Boyle Sports / LiveScore Bet)
Tim Easterby’s string has been relentless lately, 11 winners from 115 runners is the kind of volume that keeps producing results and Forest Phoenix arrives on the back of four consecutive runs that ended in a win (5881). That upward trajectory in form combined with a trainer at the top of his game makes this a serious contender. David Allan rides and knows the Easterby horses inside out. The five-furlong sprint on good ground at York is ideal for a three-year-old with a turn of foot. Four places at 1/5 make the each-way angle sensible at 6/1 in a 15-runner field.
Schrodinger’s Cat (11/2) is the slight market leader but Grant Tuer has not sent out a winner in the past 10 runners, which is worth noting at a price this short. Straight Ahead (8/1) showed good early-season form with back-to-back wins and could pop up at a price.
5:18 โ Event Traffic Control Handicap (1m2f, 20 runners)
Selection: Dovey Moon Each-Way at 15/2 (Boyle Sports / Betfred)
The evening closer is a 20-runner cavalry charge and each-way is the only sensible approach. Dovey Moon ticks several boxes. David Evans has been in decent form recently (2 from 12), Pat Cosgrave takes the ride, and the form of 531-71 shows a horse that won over course and distance conditions this season and then placed last time out. He looks well-placed on his current mark. Five places at 1/5 in a 20-runner field gives you a huge safety net.
Say What You See (7/2) is a short-priced favourite with form 1D-3521 that demands respect, but 7/2 in a 20-runner handicap is a punishing ask. Mafting (15/2) for O’Meara is another with each-way claims. Dovey Moon at 15/2 with the winning form on his card is the pick.
Today’s NAP
Odds: 7/1 โ Boyle Sports (others: 7/1 Betfred, 7/1 LiveScore Bet)
Back-to-back wins on the form card, James Doyle in the saddle, and 7/1 available in a race worth ยฃ36,078. Rathgar has clearly found his confidence and is arriving at this mark off a horse that knows how to win right now. The good ground at York suits, the 1m2f trip is well established, and five places at 1/5 give the each-way player outstanding coverage. This is the bet of the day.
